What We Do

Subramaniam Entertainment, founded in 2009, handles the Artist management of Dr. L. Subramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam, Bindu Subramaniam, Ambi Subramaniam and SubraMania (Band)

It also administers the music catalogues of SubraManiac Music (ASCAP) and Niranjani Music (BMI), the orchestral works of Dr. L. Subramaniam, organises the annual Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, manages Independent record label Viji Records and supports the charitable activities of the Subramaniam Foundation.

Dr L Subramaniam

L. Subramaniam, India’s violin icon, “The Paganini of Indian Classical music”, “the God of Indian Violin” is the serenity of an Indian musician combined with the magnetism of a western star. Constantly propelled from Singapore to Paris, from Delhi to Los Angeles, he has conquered every audience with the elegance and virtuosity of his style.

His career as a childhood prodigy brought him into contact with the greatest musicians and he soon imposed himself as a master of the violin. At a very young age, he was honoured with the title “Violin Chakravarthy” (emperor of the violin). No other musician can boast of such diverse repertoire and collaborations, or even such mind-boggling techniques. Till date, Dr. Subramaniam has produced, performed, collaborated, conducted and close to two hundred recordings.

Dr. L. Subramaniam is the only musician who has performed and recorded South Indian Classical Music, Western Classical Music, both Orchestral and non-Orchestral, and also composed for and conducted major orchestras, scored for films, collaborated with a wide range of some of the greatest musicians, from different genres of music including jazz, occidental, jugalbandis with North Indian musicians, world music and global fusion. He has established himself as a force that is strongly Indian, but universal in nature and approach.

Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam

Undoubtedly one of the favourites of the critics and the masses, Kavita’s singing career reads like a fairy tale. Her exquisite and mellifluous voice, wide range and, versatility to sing different styles and types of songs has put her in a unique place amongst singers and she has been quoted as a “melody queen” by leading critics and connoisseurs alike. Kavita is a very rare personality who has served as a bridge from the older film singers like Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, right up to the present day singers like Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan. Her fantastic range and interpretation has led to collaborations with diverse music directors like Naushad, Khayyam, OP Nayyar, Lakshmikant-Pyarelal, R.D. Burman, Bappi Lahiri, A.R. Rahman, Anu Malik, Nadeem Shravan, Jatin Lalit, Ismail Durbar, , Sanjeev-Darshan and Shankar-Ehsan-Loy to name a few. Kavita’s collaborations have been with artists over three generations. She has lent her voice to heroines from Nutan, Helen, Shabana, Sridevi, Madhuri, Manisha, Kajol, to Karishma, Aishwarya ,Kareena and Rani Mukherjee.

Bindu Subramaniam

Bindu Subramaniam is an Indian/American singer-songwriter and pianist. She is the daughter of violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam, and Bollywood playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam and sister of violinist Ambi Subramaniam. She began performing at the age of 12, and has since collaborated with Al Jarreau, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham, Larry Coryell, Ernie Watts, Corky Siegel, Matthew Santos, Pandit Jasraj, Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Pankaj Udhas, Hariharan, and Remo Fernandes.

Her debut album was released in India 2011 and nominated for GiMA (Indian equivalent of the Grammys) in the category of Best Pop/Rock Album. Earlier, in 2010 she was part of the ensemble that won a GiMA in the category of Best Fusion Album. She is a regular performer at the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival. She has received Honourable Mentions at the Billboard World Song Contest and was a finalist in the performance category of the Unisong International Song Contest.

Ambi Subramaniam

Ambi Subramaniam gave his first performance at the age of seven and since then has performed in many prestigious venues across the world. He has received the Ritz Icon of the Year Award, the Rotary Youth Award, two GiMAs (Global Indian Music Award for Best Fusion Album and Best Carnatic Instrumental Album) and Big Indian Music Award (for Best Carnatic Album).

Hailed as "the new king of Indian classical violin" (The Times of India), Ambi regularly plays duet violin concerts with Dr. L. Subramaniam and solo concerts. He has performed at the prestigious Dussehra Festival at the Mysore Palace, the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, the Jay Pritzker Pavillion in Chicago, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Maximum India Festival at Kennedy, the Royal Opera House, Muscat, and at the Centenary Celebration of the Banglaore Gayana Samaj. Ambi was a featured soloist for the Sounds of India program featuring talented instrumentalists from around the country. Ambi has been invited to perform at TEDx events to expose new audiences to Carnatic music, and at age 13 was invited to present a concert for the then President of India HE APJ Abdul Kalam for the Pravasi Bharitiya Divas. He has performed with Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna and Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia.

Subramania – The Band

Formed by singer/songwriter Bindu Subramaniam (“third generation prodigy” – The Hindustan Times) and violinist/composer Ambi (“the new king of Indian classical violin”- Times of India), SubraMania fuses traditional Indian music with elements of pop, rock and jazz, to create contemporary world music. In addition to creating their own material in English and traditional Indian languages, SubraMania works with well-known classics and jazz standards to interpret them in a completely new light. It has built on a multi generational musical tradition, but with a sound that is distinctly it’s own.

Both Bindu and Ambi are established solo performers in their own right, with awards, hundreds of stage performances and multiple albums to their credit. They decided to create SubraMania, to create a new voice for contemporary world music. In the short period since it’s been formed, SubraMania has already performed in seven countries across Europe and toured in India, including as part of the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival 2013-14 featuring Hubert Laws and Oystein Baadsvik and 2014-15 featuring Corky Siegel and Jon Weber.

SubraMania has collaborated with Indi-Pop legend Lesle Lewis, performing with him at Storm Festival and recording for his new album, and with Bollywood composer Aadesh Srivastav for his Global Sounds of Peace concert and recording.

Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival

The Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival was established in 1992 by Dr. L. Subramaniam and Viji Subramaniam, in the memory of his late father and guru Professor V. Lakshminarayana. Since its inception, the LGMF has presented some of the greatest artistes from around the world including Yehudi Menuhin, M. S. Subbulakshmi, Bismillah Khan, Al Jarreau, Stanley Clarke, George Duke and Jean-Luc Ponty. In 2010, Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam took over as Artistic Director.

LGMF is the only music festival that has been able to showcase talent from around the world and provide a platform for all different styles of music; it has presented Indian Classical (Carnatic and Hindustani), Jazz, Rock, Western Classical, Orchestral, Indian Folk, Ghazals, Hindi Film music, and different Classical and Folk styles from five different continents.

Till date, the festival has been held in 55 cities across 22 countries and has received tremendous support from the press and public alike, hosting audiences of up to 200,000 people at a single event.
